Immunization Project

CULP has implemented a project to strengthen Routine Immunization throughcommunity action in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare and UNICEF in about 100 villages of 19 gram panchayats in Chaksu block of Jaipur district during 2004 - 05. The project aimed at supporting reproductive and child health programmes of the government. The activities focus on pregnant women and eligible children (0-12 months) to ensure immunized coverage against 6 vaccine preventable diseases. Before actual implementation of the routine Immunization drive, awareness raising and contact activities were organized in the operational area in two phases as shown in the following exhibit.



Consequent to the special sessions for immunization in 80 villages in Phase- I of the project and 66 villages in Phase-II, The status of immunization in the project villages has improved significantly i.e. 50 to 80 percent which was only 5 percent at the beginning of the project according to base line study.
