Rural Library School Project

Rural Library School Project The project “Rural school library” is being implemented in ten government elementary schools in collaboration with the Education Department of Government of Rajasthan for developing reading habits in children and making the library activities an integral part of over-all teaching-learning process. About 300 books and other material have been provided in each of ten schools by which about 2500 children and 100 teachers are being benefited.

Before starting the project a baseline study of reading skills of the target group was done with especially prepared tools. Two resource persons of CULP organize the School-based activities with children such as story telling and loud reading of book sessions. Also, film and puppet shows, role-plays and free expression activities are organized periodically. For making children from different schools to interact with one another, Bal Melas and workshops have been organized with active support of SSA / DPEP.
